Honda-Designed Santa Sleigh
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, which means that Santa is just about set to head out to deliver Christmas joy to children all over the world. He is on a tight schedule to get everything delivered on time, and he has to ensure that his sleigh is prepared and his reindeer are well-rested and fed to make the trip without a hitch. This year, just to be sure that everything runs smoothly, Santa is trading in his old sleigh for something that has ensured safety and performance — a Honda-designed Santa sleigh.
That’s the subject of the newest Honda ad, which shows Santa having nightmares about his crumbling sleigh struggling to make the rounds. When he wakes up, he takes his concerns to the Honda plant where the technicians design, build and test a sleigh specifically for Santa. From the looks of the video, the sleigh has been designed with the front end of the Honda Accord serving as inspiration.
Check out the video below, and scroll down when you’re done to find out why we think the 2014 Honda Accord would serve as an excellent alternative for Santa’s sleigh.
So why exactly would the Accord be a great alternative for Santa? Well, first of all, there is a forward collision warning to alert Santa of incoming chimneys. Lane departure warning also ensures that Santa will stay on course, even when he gets drowsy from all of the milk and cookies. In the event of a collision, Santa is sure to be safe as the Accord was one of many Honda models named as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.
Perhaps the greatest part is that the Accord is capable of traveling up to 36 mpg on the highway. That means that Santa can head from city to city without visions of an empty tank dancing in his head. The Accord even gets 27 mpg in the city, so there really are no concerns for Santa in the fuel department.
We also believe that the Accord would make the rounds much faster than the old reindeer-driven sleigh. For this comparison we will consider reindeer to horses. A horse is capable of 14.9 horsepower which multiplied by Santa’s nine reindeer gives the sleigh roughly 134 horsepower. That’s absolutely nothing compared to the 278 horsepower of the V6 engine found under the hood of the Accord. Santa could make his rounds twice as fast in the Honda Accord.
Looking at the specs of the 2014 Honda Accord, it’s easy to see why a Honda-designed Santa sleigh would make a great alternative to the outdated reindeer-driven sleigh.
