As the San Antonio trick-or-treat time goes pretty late, there are some Halloween safety tips that you should always keep in mind when you’re out with your little ghosts and goblins. As a car dealership, we’re going to start by saying be careful on the roads. If you’re driving, be sure you drive slowly. Treat every street as if it were a school zone. If you’re walking your kids around, be sure that you use the crosswalks. Also be sure that you child is well-lit. You can take flashlights, or incorporate reflectors, a glow bracelet or necklace into your child’s costume to be sure that they are seen by drivers.

Costumes should also be practical. To keep your child from tripping and falling, make sure that you avoid costumes that drag on the ground. Don’t worry about whether or not the shoes match the costume either. Put on the fancy looking shoes for pictures or costume parties, but when the kids are heading out for trick or treating, they should be in something more comfortable like sneakers.

Hard props or weapons can also be dangerous, especially if your child were to fall on it. Only buy soft rubber or foam weapons or leave them at home—it’s just one less item that you’ll end up having to carry towards the end of your journey.
