2014 Honda Pilot Release
Finally, the moment so many of you have been waiting for has arrived. The 2014 Honda Pilot Release date has come, and the eight-passenger family SUV is officially for sale as of today. The full specs have been released and they look better than we could ever have imagined.
The 2014 Honda Pilot has been equipped with a hefty 3.5-liter 250-horsepower V-6 engine. When needed the V-6 can tow up to 4,500 pounds, but when power isn’t necessary, the engine automatically drops into a 4-cylinder or 3-cylinder mode to increase efficiency. The engine has not received Honda’s Earth Dreams technology as we had suspected, but the SUV still offers the highest fuel economy rating of any eight-passenger SUV. The 2WD models top out at 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway and the 4WD models only see a decrease of 1 mpg in both cycles. Those numbers are calculated from the pairing of the engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission which comes standard in all Pilot models.
Storage is also at an all-time high in the 2014 Honda Pilot. Eighteen cubic feet of storage, a little bigger than the average sedan trunk, sits behind the third row of seats. Fold the second and third row of seats flat and the Pilot opens up a vast 87 cubic feet of total cargo space. Both rows of seating have a 60/40 split which opens up a vast amount of seating and storage possibilities, sixteen of them to be exact. Accessing the back of the trunk has also been made more convenient with the addition of a lift-up glass hatch.
As with most eight-passenger SUVs, the 2014 Honda Pilot is loaded with luxury features. An 8-inch display screen sits boldly in the dashboard and provides display for a rearview camera, and acts as the motherboard for USB and Bluetooth powered devices. The Pilot also makes a voice-activated navigation available.
The 2014 Honda Pilot release date is here, but it may be a little bit before we get this fuel-efficient SUV in our showroom at Benson Honda.
