Avoid Future Car Problems With These Ingenious Tips

Car Life Hacks from Benson Honda

Toothpaste can really work some magic on those foggy headlights.

Everyone knows that there is nothing more annoying than when you get a scratch in your car. Some people take their car in immediately to buff it out, but others may just leave it there. You may be surprised to know that there is a simple car life hack for that. Granted you can find a color to match your car, you can hide scratches with nothing but a little nail polish.

Sometimes we run into certain dilemmas in life that can seem so hard to solve, when in actuality the solution is simple. All it takes is a little ingenuity. At Benson Honda in San Antonio, we decided that we would put together a short list of some ingenious ideas which you can use to make a quick fix or avoid future problems.

One of the first things that we recommend is that you get air in your tires. Having your tires at the proper pressure can improve your gas mileage. Something we love about this one is that the fix can be completely free. Look around the next time you’re at the gas station, most offer free air allowing you to increase your gas mileage for free.

The next fix deals with increasing your visibility on the road. When you’re sitting in the driver seat and looking at your side mirrors, you should not be able to see your own car. If you can, be sure to face them further away from your car. You will be amazed at how much of a difference it makes.

Holding your key fob against the underside of your chin can increase its range by a few car lengths.

If you have ever had foggy headlights, you know that seeing the road in the dark can be a real hassle. The solution to clearing those up is toothpaste. The toothpaste works to polish your headlights, leaving them nice and clear. If you attempt this method be sure to use regular white toothpaste. Chemicals in whitening toothpaste can actually damage your headlights.

The last two are helpful, but they seem more comical than anything. The first involves using a shoe as a cup holder. Though it is practical, if you have to resort to that, we suggest you look at our inventory and find something that can hold your drink without stinking it up. The last tip is probably our favorite. If you pick up a pizza on the way home from work, set it on your passenger seat and crank up the seat warmer. It will ensure that your food is still plenty warm when you get home.
