Economical cars in the past have not had the most appealing sporty look, but the all new 2011 Honda CR-Z definitely changes that. A unique style which is a first of its kind will be turning heads down the street and saving you money at the pump. While the outside has amazing style and looks the inside does not disappoint either. The retro look and the colors that signal for the gauges are a sure plus. Honda has stayed true to its roots in this car.
A 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with a battery pack runs the CR-Z, it is the same engine that is in the Honda Insight. The CR-Z has what Honda calls “mild hybrid technology” meaning that it runs on gas and the electric battery but is not considered a full hybrid. Up to 122 horsepower is put out and 128 pound feet of torque by the engine. Three buttons are on the side of the dash, sport, econ and normal. These three buttons dictate what mode you are setting for the throttle and steering. Econ mode uses less gas, and keeps you above 30 miles per gallon. It also stops and starts the car at stoplights more quickly which boosts gas mileage. Sport feels a little better to most people and has a nice powerful performance feel.
Compared to other vehicles in the CR-Z class the fuel economy is phenomenal. Rated by the EPA at 31 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway, this vehicle will definitely save you some money at the pump.
While space is not the highest attribute of this car, you are buying it for the economical and fuel-saving reasons. There is plenty of space for the driver and passengers and plenty of room to store some things in the back seats.
The 2011 Honda CR-Z has not been crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration but Honda has a great reputation for building quality, safe vehicles and we are confident it will do very well. This car is similar to the Honda Insight, which has done extremely well in safety tests. Standard safety features that are included in this vehicle are dual front, side and curtain airbags; active head restraints; anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control; and hill assist on manual transmission cars.
Available two versions the CR-Z comes in the base and the EX. The base model comes with automatic climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, a six-speaker CD sound system with USB connectivity and steering-wheel controls. The EX has all the base plus high-intensity discharge headlamps, Blutooth, fog lamps, leather and alloy-metal trim, an extra remote fob and an upgraded 36-watt stereo. Options include navigation and voice recognition.
